Cuba, a country only a five-hour plane ride away, I did not know much about before my experience. I was able to build an intimate connection with its friendly people, history, politics, and economy. Cuba is a beautiful country, and their struggles should not be overlooked. I learned the importance of changing American attitudes ... Katie P - Nazareth College View Entire Review

I learned many important things traveling to Cuba (specifically). I learned so much about a country that is so close yet so mystical. I feel like just being there and learning from locals and seeing it for myself is the most worthwhile. The trip had opportunities to really expand my understanding of global relations as well as history and the arts. I really enjoyed my time in Cuba! While being in Cuba, I learned a lot about the complexities of class. Specifically, I learned about the possible relationship of capitalism and socialism, the ways in which they can work against yet with each other, and the effects of both situations. I gained a better understanding of myself and the world around me. I was very nervous at first since I had never flown abroad alone before, but the second I stepped out of the Havana airport I was greeted by Abroadia and I knew I never wanted to leave. About
With an average temperature of 26°C (79°F) all year round, its unmatched landscapes and rich culture, Cuba will surprise you in ways you could not imagine. Cuban people are the most friendly and patient in the world. Having endured difficulties created by a 60-year old embargo, they have proven to be extremely resourceful with a joie de vivre that surprises many visitors to the island.
You will study at the Universidad de La Habana, the oldest university of the country, and choose between a Spanish or Cuban culture class. For those interested in volunteering, you will be given the chance to visit a school in Havana to help Cuban students with their English. Our program will also take you to an excursion to discover the fantastic landscapes of the island. You will have the amazing opportunity to experience the Cuban lifestyle and live in homestay with a local family to be fully immersed in the culture.
Abroadia works to inspire a better world by developing innovative international programs for faculty and students that will provide them with necessary tools to develop a profound understanding of Latin American culture, business, politics, higher education and the Spanish language.
