About

Study the Arabic language and discover the beauty of Morocco during APA's six-week Intensive Arabic summer program. Hosted in the capital city of Rabat, students challenge themselves to achieve fluency in this Arabic-only immersion program. By the end of the summer, discuss the works of Moroccan authors, debate the local news stories, and barter in the souks like a local!

All courses are taught in Arabic and are four credits each.

Students follow one Arabic language course:


  • Intermediate Arabic Language

  • Advanced Arabic Language

Students also choose one elective to follow:

  • Arabic Literature

  • Media Arabic

  • Advanced Moroccan Dialect

Benefit from customized language support: Every week, students meet one-on-one with the Arabic instructor and separately with a teaching assistant for specific language practice unique to the individual.

Homestay and cultural events and excursions are included for continued immersion outside of the classroom.

Two-week extension: Stay in Rabat for a total of eight weeks. After classes are finished, volunteer with a local NGO for two more weeks in Morocco.

Academic Programs Abroad (APA) Scholarships

Social Media Leadership

Become the voice abroad for APA with regular blog and social media postings. Semester awards begin at $500 and summer awards begin at $300. Eligible for bonuses at the end of term for outstanding work.

Fall Semester/Academic Year: March 1 Summer: April 1 Spring Semester: October 1

Guidelines/Requirements:
Previous scholarship recipients have had a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or greater, previous experience running social media accounts for a business or organization, shown a keen interest in engaging in French and Francophone culture, and have had a serious desire to take part in a full-immersion program.

Visual Media

Become your cohort’s photographic or videographic historian for your term abroad. Your photos and/or videos may be featured on the APA website or in future promotional materials!
