About
Our volunteers accompany local community caregivers as they visit patients across Livingstone. Most of these patients suffer from serious illnesses such as HIV TB or Malaria. The aim of Home Based Care (HBC) is providing comfort, education and treatment adherence advice to members of the community with little to no access to clinics or hospitals. Listening to patient’s stories with an empathetic ear is an invaluable way to provide comfort and support as a volunteer. Talking to patients about the importance of hygiene, a healthy diet and exercise is often an important part of this healthcare service, as is providing information about the vital importance of adhering to medication regimes.
