Overall Experience
A student studying abroad with AIFS: Prague - Charles University
I met the U.S. Ambassador to Czech Republic as well as other diplomats! I met an intern at the U.S. Embassy. I created life long friendships. I tried new things and met new people! - Texas Tech University View Entire Review
A new sense of independence, a love for travel and so much more. It was incredibly worthwhile. - Western Washington University View Entire Review
I gained so much it is way to much to list. I can tell you the most important things that I learned about is other cultures and how to understand people who don't understand you. There are many universal ways to communicate which I figured out with practice. I also learned how other people live and what places look like. I learn... - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I learned a lot about the value of other cultures during my time abroad. - Adelphi University View Entire Review
I learned how to be more adaptable and how be more patient. It was my first time truly going somewhere where I knew no one so I was made to get out of my comfort zone and I have gained amazing friends. - Wartburg College View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. I feel like a completely new version of myself now. I am more confident, self-aware, assertive, accepting, and so many other things that I never imagined I could accomplish in just four months. - Drake University View Entire Review
Past Review Great Experience
This experience was definitely worthwhile. I gained independence skills, from having to navigate around foreign cities to struggling to learn a new language. I also learned to just go with the flow and roll with whatever happens, because sometimes you just can't control if the bus is late or you ordered a food item in another la... - University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh View Entire Review
This semester helped me have more insight into how different things are all over the world. Which seems pretty obvious, but it was very interesting to experience. It was definitely worthwhile, and I would do it all over again if I could. - Iowa State University View Entire Review
Learned a lot about myself, and the world, and just gained confidence in general. Very much a worthwhile experience. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
I look back on myself prior to when I left, and right now. Good things happend while overseas. Met some of the best people I have ever met. Had experiences that I would have never dreamed of. I can honestly say that it was the best time of my life. - University of Hartford View Entire Review
Past Review Unexplainable.
I learned that stupid little problems in my life are actually not problems. Problems are the starving people, the people that were freezing to death because it was so cold and the corrupt government that the Czech people have to deal with every day. This trip was the best experience I ever had and I wish it could have been longe... - University of Hartford View Entire Review
Absolutely. I gained so much knowledge on the way that other cultures function. I learned so much about myself. I have plans to travel much more in the future and continue learning more about the world. - Colorado State University View Entire Review
Past Review Prague! Amazing!
My study abroad experience was life changing, though after returning to the United States, it is still unclear how many different complex changes the experience has instilled in me. Traveling and studying abroad, above all, helps you realize what it means to live in and be a citizen of your own country. It forces you to consider... - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I gained so much knowledge about the world. I am now able to be more confident in myself and my decisions since studying abroad. I now have a travel bug that I can't get rid of. I want to learn as much about the world as I can. - University of North Dakota View Entire Review
My confidence in myself improved, I became more open minded and started a more active lifestyle. I learned about sustainable practices in the EU that I have adapted in my American life. I also bonded with some amazing Eastern Europeans who adopted me into their world, and it was the best experience I could ask for. - Texas Tech University View Entire Review
I gained a lot of independence and self-confidence on this trip. I was pushed out of my comfort zone and it was so worth it! - Quinnipiac University View Entire Review
I learned that there are a lot of little things we take for granted. Every culture is different, and no culture has all the answers. It is only by experiencing other cultures that we can begin to understand why we approach life the way we do. - Trinity University View Entire Review
I learned how to interact with students from different cultures. I learned that I can explore new places that I've never been to before. - Ohio State University - Columbus View Entire Review
I learned so much from my stay in the Czech Republic. Every day I experience something new and different about the culture that I was living in. I loved living like a local and seeing the world through their eyes instead of my own. It has taught me greater patience, understanding, and a willingness to let go and experience life ... - Wartburg College View Entire Review
Past Review Mind Blowing
The classes were stimulating, the locals were welcoming, it opened up my mind and made me more independent. It was completely worthwhile! - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I learned how to live with someone who was horrible to live with. I have not had an experience like that before. I also learned how to be very independent and to keep myself busy. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
Studying abroad in the center of the European continent in one of the most authentic, historic cities left in Europe gave me the opportunity to experience another culture that has not yet been completely Americanized (although some might say it's on its way there, for better or for worse). I'm now exploring graduate programs in... - The College of William and Mary View Entire Review
broadening of my horizons and becoming a global thinker - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
I learned patience. not everyone thinks or speaks the way i do. I learned to not be afraid to try new things and explore new places. Studying abroad will put you in so many situations that are outside of your comfort zone and it is essential to adapt, the RIGHT way. Dont think about it negatively, you signed up for this! =) You... - Pima Community College View Entire Review
The best part about studying abroad is that you get to know a knew way of life other than that we live in the U.S. There are OTHER ways of going about things, whether they differ dramatically or very little from the way we do things. Since studying abroad, I am enthusiastic about learning a second language. - University of Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh View Entire Review
