My way of thinking of Cultures and Diversity has grown even stronger. I love to explore other cultures, but living with a family for a week and in a different country made it grow and realize things I had not lived before. I learned who I really am. Being away from the place that I was so comfortable with allowed me to open up, mature, and notice how thirsty I am to learn even more abut myself. I became more outgoing, adventurous, aware, mature, grateful, and most of all to notice that I will never stop growing. - Saint Michael's College View Entire Review

I learned a lot about myself from this trip, that was the biggest thing I got out of the experience. I learned what kinds of people I wanted to spend time with, what I feel comfortable with and how to step out of my comfort zone. I did a lot of things I would have never done if I was in the US. - Drake University View Entire Review
Through this experience I have grown so much as an individual and as a citizen of the world. I learned that there are other versions of history than what we learned in our high schools in the US, everything has another perspective. - Western Washington University View Entire Review
I learned that I love to travel and I want to see more of the world. I learned to be grateful for the things that I have and the experiences I was able to have as well. I learned to live more authentically to who I am instead of who others want me to be. It was most certainly worthwhile. - Texas State University-San Marcos View Entire Review

Semester and academic year students choose between three programs: Spanish Language, Liberal Arts and Environmental Sciences Program | Spanish Language and Internship Program | Certificate of Knowledge Program.  Students with a superior level of Spanish can take regular Veritas University courses in architecture, film and television, design, animation and fashion.  Universidad Veritas offers an internship program and volunteer opportunities that’ll help you make the most of your semester abroad.

Summer students can begin or advance their Spanish language study while taking elective courses in English for a 4, 5 or 8 week session.  Choose between three programs: Spanish Language and Latin American Culture (4 or 8 weeks) | Spanish for Health Care Professionals and Health Care Electives (5 weeks) | Spanish Language, Liberal Arts and Environmental Studies (5 weeks).  Choose courses in subjects including architecture, art, business, communications, economics, environmental science, health, history, linguistics, literature, photography, physical therapy, politics, psychology, social science and more.

During January term, students choose between two options: Costa Rican Health Care System and Tropical Medicine | Conflict Resolution and Health Care.  Both programs are instructed in English.

You'll live in a homestay within walking distance of the university and immerse yourself in Tico culture and Spanish language.  You'll have your own room, with breakfast and dinner provided, a weekly laundry wash and internet access included.

Enjoy cultural and social activities such as walking tours of the city, Costa Rican cooking classes and visits to local museums and historical sites.  Excursions may vary depending on the term you select but typically include travel such as a 3-day trip to Arenal Volcano, Hot Springs Spa and Monteverde Cloud Forest, a 3-day trip to the beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park and day trips to volcanoes, Doka Coffee Estate and Sarchi artisans.  Optional excursions include travel such as a 4-day trip to Bocas del Toro, Panama, and a 2-day hiking and rafting trip to Sarapiquí.

The lively capital of Costa Rica offers all of the amenities of a big city while being within reach of two coasts, volcanoes, national parks and the lush central highlands.
