About

The Washington, DC Internship Program offers a semester of study and work in the political and media center of the United States. The program combines a full-time internship with coursework focusing on the legislative process and foreign policy. Classes are taught at the Boston University Washington Center, both by distinguished scholars from the Boston University faculty and by part-time adjunct faculty chosen for their teaching expertise and records of accomplishment in their fields. Students also have the option to take one class at George Washington University or one course (out of a limited number of courses) at the Washington campus of Johns Hopkins University as part of the program. They can enroll in any of George Washington’s seven undergraduate colleges and the full spectrum of course offerings is open to them while they are enrolled in the Washington Internship Program. Students have the option of taking the Washington Seminar for 4 credits in lieu of one elective course. The Washington Seminar builds upon the internship course with a series of field trips to places such as the Supreme Court, the British Embassy, think tanks, lobbying firms, and a meeting with a former ambassador. Students participating in the program work at their internship four days a week and enroll in night courses.
