I gained experience in communicating through a language barrier, which was difficult at first but became a part of every day life. I made good friends with the Americans I stayed with and some of the workers in the greenhouses in Solheimar. I also got to hike in some really beautiful places. I saw an entirely different culture, and lived in a very tight knit community. It was wonderful and absolutely worthwhile A student - University of Massachusetts Amherst / UMass View Entire Review
It was worth every moment. I learned so much about people, environmental studies, the planet, Iceland, etc. Marley Bonacquist-Currin - Siena College View Entire Review
I think it was worthwhile. I certainly gained and learned a lot. My reason for not choosing the same programme again if I could is almost exclusively language-related. This programme could be very good for someone who was looking for something different than I was. I am an environmental studies/linguistics major, and the languag... Aside from the academic knowledge and content, I learned a lot about my personal relationship with and understanding of the Earth. I learned first-hand what community-level change is like. I am more certain in my beliefs, my passions, and the direction I want to take my life. I have a better understanding of sustainability and community and what it means to be a citizen in this global web. It was more than worth it. A student - Hope College View Entire Review
I gained an appreciation for all of nature. Absolutely. A student - University of Oklahoma View Entire Review
It was not worthwhile. At least not for the high cost. I did learn some basics about sustainability and got some nice perspectives, but I could have learned the same amount of material in a week-long university course. michael.reinisch.31 - University of Arkansas - Fayetteville View Entire Review
I learned a ton about sustainability and met some really awesome people. I now have some contacts with amazing people both from Iceland and from America. I really grew myself, even though it was only three weeks. It was definitely worthwhile and possibly the greatest three weeks I've ever experienced in my life. It was a whirlwi...
