Overall Experience
This program was so worthwhile. I see it as the biggest challenge in "adulting" i have ever faced. I cooked for myself, was responsible for figuring out how to go to the doctor, had to start a social system, and learn my limits—all in another language that, let's face it, I did not speak very well. I 10/10 recommend going abroad... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
In addition to improving my Spanish learning more about Spanish culture, I learned a lot about myself during my time abroad. I became more self-aware, confident, and independent. It was the most worthwhile experience of my life, without a doubt. - George Washington University View Entire Review

I learned a lot about being independent in new situations, especially through travelling alone a bit and pushing myself to do things I was scared about. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned a lot about being independent and navigating new places and cultures. I learned a different perspective on life from the Spaniards I interacted with and learned how to balance experiences with self-care. It was absolutely worthwhile! - Brandeis University View Entire Review

I learned adaptability, patience, and acceptance. It was truly a humbling experience and I recommend it to anyone that wants to travel abroad. It also taught me a lot about myself, and let me meet so many new people. - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
I gained some life long friends and learned Spanish. It was definitely one of the best experiences in my life. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned that I shouldn't feel bad about not liking awful people. It was worthwhile though, I met a couple nice people and got to travel all over - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I impressed myself with my ability to get in and out of uncomfortable situations and I feel empowered by the experience. Yes! - Clark University - Worcester View Entire Review

I learned so much more than words can even begin to describe. I learned how to trust and be comfortable. I learned how to be confident and get around independently. - Clark University - Worcester View Entire Review
It made me feel extremely fortunate to have this wonderful opportunity to live in a foreign country with a Spanish family who was very kind and helpful to me. I felt so lucky to be able to immerse myself in a different culture and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. - Providence College View Entire Review
I gained an appreciation for other cultures and types of people. I learned to be a lot more independent. I feel like a more complete person having been abroad. - Providence College View Entire Review
I learned Spanish fluently, made some of my BEST friends, and experienced a new culture, language, and made a home. - Colby College View Entire Review

While I was abroad I gained confidence in my Spanish speaking abilities, and learned about a different mindset about life. One thing many of us noticed very quickly is that while Americans live to work, Spaniards work to live, and having a chance to experience that gave me perspective on what life can look like back home and hel... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I gained a much more advanced language skill as well as a developed sense of responsibility and independence - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Absolutely! I learned more about myself and what I am like in many different situations. - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I think the most I gained from this experience was learning about the local culture. I visited almost everything in the city and was able to get to know it like the back of my hand. Also meeting so many new people, especially locals was my favorite part because I learned even more about different aspects of culture from local fe... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
One of the greatest things I gained from abroad was increased language skills. I spoke Spanish with my host family, and all my classes were in Spanish, meaning all my readings and assignments were in Spanish as well. I know if I had not gone abroad and immersed myself in Spanish culture, my Spanish would not have improved to the... - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned that racism presents itself in all sorts of ways and that feminism transfers into cultures differently. Also, that the Spanish language is not queer inclusive. I would not have learned that and challenged my thoughts about social justice issues had I not lived in Spain. The progressive movements are incredibly problema... - Wartburg College View Entire Review

It was definitely worthwhile. I learned to trust MYSELF and make decisions on my own. It was extremely challenging but very rewarding and I learned to see people for what they are -- people! Language-wise, I learned how to have a real conversation in Spanish. - The University of Texas at Austin View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile! I learned about a whole new culture that I have learned to love and immerse myself in. I don't think I ever felt homesick because the people I was around (homestay, friends, program) always made me feel comfortable and at home. I learned I can study, work, and live abroad without the fear of missing... - University of the Pacific View Entire Review
I learned how to deal with real independence and how to immerse myself completely into a new culture. - Providence College View Entire Review
