Overall Experience
It was totally worthwhile to be able to experience another culture for an extended period of time. I really enjoyed all the excursions and the freedom of traveling and learning from places, artifacts, and people. - Western Washington University View Entire Review
My artistic skills improved exponentially just from the museum excursions and the opportunities to visit historic places in person. It was incredibly worthwhile and I will remember it always. - Western Washington University View Entire Review
I learned that the world is very big and takes all kinds to make the world go round. I'm still figuring out what I learned from my experience, but I know the lessons I learned about life will stick with me forever. Studying abroad has made me a stronger person. If I could go back, the only change I would make would be to do even... - University of Portland View Entire Review
YES. - University of Portland View Entire Review
It's been almost 4 months since I got back - and all I want to do is go back and continue my experiences there. I don't want to do it over again, because that would imply feelings of regret, but I want to keep on exploring both London, and Europe, in general. Nothing against tourism, but there is simply nothing like living in an... - University of Oregon View Entire Review
The housing situation was pretty terrible and the bars close at 12. The beer was pretty bad on the whole and if you did find a decent ale, it was served at room temperature. It was interesting to be a part of the London culture, but I'm pretty sure it's not a place for me. It also gave me a new appreciation for the States, esp... - University of Portland View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. Next time I would look for a program that placed us in a British university. I made valuble connections overseas and with my American peers and professors. Our professor's goal was for us to be able to see artwork/artifacts, and benefit from seeing it in person. We saw many things, and I do feel see... - Western Washington University View Entire Review
Past Review Life In London
Its always worthwhile to spend time in another country, even if its not too different from the U.S. From London it's really easy to get out and see Europe. - University of Puget Sound View Entire Review
I am now trying to apply for grad school in London. I know it is a long shot, but the art collections there are something that would bring me back again and again and I hope to have another opportunity to study them. - Willamette University View Entire Review
I have lived in Europe for more than half of my life, so it's more home to me than anywhere in the U.S. However, this time abroad I didn't have my family and I became independent, more confident, and learned a great deal about myself. I love what this program did for me and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! - Southern Oregon University View Entire Review
I learned that the UK is very different from USA, but still has similarities. I enjoyed London because it was easy to live about the country and learn all about the UK because I was able to see so many sites I had learned about my whole life. It also showed me a lot about Europe in general and how all the other countries work to... - University of Oregon View Entire Review

About

In addition to the internship placement, you will enroll in two to three other GEO courses. If you plan to enroll in an internship placement you will need to be flexible and committed to the internship schedule and responsibilities entailed from both a professional and personal standpoint. Because of the time commitment required, you may sometimes have to forgo a program activity or excursion in order to fulfill your responsibilities to the organization. PLEASE NOTE: Visa is required for internship students.

  • English Spring in London: Building on a quarter-century of academic excellence, the London Centre offers multi-disciplinary courses in the liberal arts and humanities. • The Genius of Study Abroad: A Tale of Two Cities, London and Paris: Revolutionary imagination—for how we see our world and live in it—is the focus of “The Genius of Study Abroad” (also known as the "Two Cities" program), a dynamic two-part, two-cities study abroad experience of active, activist global learning. Framed by two plays and two iconic novels about the two cities, London and Paris, the course lenses of phenomenal art, architecture, science, literature, landscape design, and philosophy of human rights and freedom, reveal the inspiring role of interdisciplinary and international experience—and yes, culture shock—for creativity.
