Course Topic: TRADE AND DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS OF MEXICO IN TIMES OF WAR (link course outline)
May 29th - June 16th, 2023 (3 weeks); optional extension for 2 additional weeks

The summer course provides a global overview of Mexico’s trade and diplomatic relationships with its main partners through a magnifying glass: the lack of strategy to face the consequences of the war in Ukraine towards the economic sanctions to Russia. Through this course, the students will understand how Mexico balances its relations between China and the US, but at the same time tries to take advantage of the opportunities of the supply chain challenges.

Syllabus:

  1. Definition of Latin America

  2. Latin America’s and Mexico’s political position towards Ukraine-Russia conflict

  3. Trading blocks in Latin America

  4. Diplomatic relations in Latin America

  5. Opportunities of doing business in Mexico and Latin America

  6. Supply chains in Mexico and Latin America

  7. Latin America between the U.S. and China

The IBERO Summer Experience - Live an innovative concept of academic and cultural immersion, with mixed groups of international and Mexican students. You will have lectures on your chosen topic in the mornings, and will learn about the Mexican context in the afternoons.
