I learnt a lot about a new culture that I did not know existed before I went. I was immersed and found new hobbies and gained amazing friendships. It was most definitely worthwhile. I had experiences there that brought me true happiness. i would highly recommend this program to anyone. A student - Miami University View Entire Review
I will not say that study abroad changed who I was. Rather, i feel that studying here in New Zealand allowed me to exercise who I always was. The balance of academics, social situations and outdoor activities combined with being in one of the most naturally beautiful places in the world was unbeatable. SO worthwhile. I gained the knowledge on how the world works, how to understand other people and cultures, and how to navigate through the unknown. Kyle Dandrea - Anonymous University View Entire Review
Definitely worthwhile! I learned more about myself and how I interact with different types of situations/people, and I will really take away all of my travel experiences during the semester. A student - Washington University in Saint Louis View Entire Review
Living in Auckland lit a fire in me to take on every day with no constraints, to deeply love people from entirely different walks of life, and revealed the blessing of speaking one's word into action. It was the most life-changing, inspiring, and empowering gift I have ever received. I went to class daily, but learned so much mo... Gabi J - Texas Christian University View Entire Review
The most important thing I think I gained from this experience was a sense of independence. As a junior I've lived away from my family for a little while but this was my first real solo travel experience. As I write this I am actually still in New Zealand a month after the end of my program and will still be here for another two... Sarah R - Western Washington University View Entire Review
I gained a stronger sense of independence, starting college far from home was the first big step, but being in another country altogether was a whole flight of stairs. It was extremely worthwhile, and I miss it a lot. A student - University of Rochester View Entire Review
I gained more cultural awareness and was able to experience how the different values of a culture have a large impact on how that culture functions (are they more communal or individualistic?). Not only about that of New Zealand, and the Cook Islands, but also of American culture. I had an amazing 4 months and have a greater ap... Caitlyn B - University of Rochester View Entire Review
I like putting myself outside my comfort zone and seeing how comfortable I can make myself. From Auckland I learned that even though they do speak my language, I have a lot to learn about their history and aboriginal culture. The people were adventurous and happy, and it made me want to live there! Clare S - University of Rochester View Entire Review
I learned so much from this experience. I grew more independent and learned that I could live on my own in a different country. I never got home sick, that's how much I loved being here. I would actually love to stay in New Zealand if I had a different career goal. I have grown to be a more relaxed, open-minded, independent,... I gained many friends and a new perspective- not a local one but that of a traveler. I met so many people traveling in the area with such amazing stories that it inspired me to do the same later in my life. There is no question in my mind that it was worthwhile. I think that anyone answering this question will agree that study abroad is absolutely worthwhile. For me, it was a really great time to take some different classes and have a bit of a break from the norm. it was good for me to take a semester to reflect a bit and just enjoy, and that's really helped me grow and be confident in ... So worthwhile! I learned so much about the Kiwi culture, the basics of surviving and camping, and above all, how grateful I am to have had this experience. Alex Winner - Miami University View Entire Review
The decision to study abroad was, for me, sort of an agonizing decision. I'm sure lots of people decide when and where they're going to study abroad before they even pick their college, but in my case, I barely got my forms submitted in time because I was debating it for so long. Part of the issue for me is that I'm an athlete (... Sawyer H - Anonymous University View Entire Review
DEFINITELY WORTHWHILE. I went to New Zealand by myself, without knowing anyone else. I was a little worried at first but I ended up having a phenomenal time! I did a home stay and made a bunch of local friends, whom I went out with on weekends and showed me around the suburbs as well as the city. I traveled with some of them to ... So much that i don't know where to start. I learned how the world views america (politics, entertainment, obesity etc) to learning who I am. You have a clean slate when you go abroad; be yourself and you will make friends who appreciate you for who you are. Henry N - Anonymous University View Entire Review
We only have so long on this earth, so make the best of every moment, and experience as much as you possibly can! A student - University of Rochester View Entire Review
Study abroad helped me learn more about myself and the world in 5 months than I had in 20 years. I am more aware of cultural sensitivities and mores as well as what I am capable of doing on my own since studying abroad. Gus B - Purdue University View Entire Review
