As its economic and political capital, Yaoundé is an ideal place for immersion into Francophone African life. Based at the Université catholique de l’Afrique centrale, with all classes conducted entirely in French, students on the Middlebury program in Cameroon will be able to take courses in several disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.
The C.V. Starr-Middlebury School in Africa--based in Yaoundé, Cameroon--affords students true cultural immersion alongside rigorous academic study. Intended for students with advanced French language skills, the Middlebury program in Cameroon enables students to increase their language abilities through housing and interaction with native speakers. Whether spending time with house mates, in classes, or in the city, students use their language in a very real immersion environment.
Students enroll in courses specially designed for students on the Middlebury program, but which are open to Cameroonian students as well; they may also select from the university's general catalog. The program provides a diverse curriculum, with all courses conducted in French.
