NRCSA: Athens - Greek Language Institute

NRCSA offers Greek in two cities in Greece: Athens and Chania. The academic staff in both Athens and Chania have successfully worked to develop a methodology that incorporates a background of Greek culture along with language acquisition so that students can learn the actual connotations of words. This approach has proven to be invaluable to students in their social or professional life while in Greece. All teachers have obtained university training and are native speakers. Additionally, they have received special training in teaching Greek as a foreign language. Individual attention is given to each student, and is of great importance to ensure maximum understanding. Both teachers and staff are more than happy to provide support and any assistance students may need. Something that many NRCSA students do is combine locations and programs to get a different experience of each location. For example, 4 weeks in Athens and then 2 weeks in Chania. This would be a great option if you are looking to travel a bit while studying! :PROGRAMS OFFERED IN BOTH LOCATIONS: STANDARD PROGRAM -20 Group hrs/wk -50 min class hour -3-10 Students per class -2 or 4 weeks in duration **Duration of classes can be extended depending on the needs of the student GROUP + TUTORIAL -20 Group hrs/wk -5 Private hrs/wk -50 min class hour -3-10 Students per class -2 or 4 weeks in duration **Duration of classes can be extended depending on the needs of the student ANCIENT/BUSINESS/TEACHER'S GREEK -10 Private hrs/wk -50 min class hour -1-1 Students per class -1-12 weeks in duration **ANCIENT-This is a program specially designed for those who wish to learn or improve their skills in the language of Plato, Aristotle, Homer and Euripedes. The Ancient Greek lessons do not only provide the knowledge of an object of immeasurable historical value, but they also help in the better understanding of the structure of modern Greek. **BUSINESS- The main aim of this program is to improve the use of General Greek in combination with the specific vocabulary of the Business world. The educational material (newspapers, magazines, videos, cassettes and textbooks) gives the opportunity to students to communicate orally and in writing in standard business situations. Students are accepted after a placement test which confirms their intermediate level of General Greek. **TEACHER'S-The aims of this program are to enable teachers of ancient or modern Greek to improve their language skills and to study new methods for the Teaching of Greek Language. The participants have the opportunity to experience Greek reality which is necessary for the teaching of Greek in their own countries.
