Overall Experience
It was one of the best experiences of my life. It has changed my views on Central America, and helped me appreciate the things I take for granted at home. In the future, I'm planning another study abroad to Spain this coming fall to continue working on my Spanish skills. About

Located on the Caribbean coast, La Ceiba is the third largest city in Honduras with a population of 80,000. The capital of the region of Atlantida, one of the 18 regions of Honduras, it is easy to get around on foot. A relatively young city with an international atmosphere, La Ceiba got its name from a huge Ceiba tree that was next to the beach and provided shade to the workers at the dock and locals during the afternoon. :PROGRAMS: STANDARD GROUP •20 Group hrs/wk • 50 min class hour • 2-4 Students per class GROUP + TUTORIAL •20 Group hrs/wk • 5 Private hrs/wk • 50 min class hour • 2-4 Students per class PRIVATE CLASSES •20 Private hrs/wk • 50 min class hour • 1-1 Students per class STUDY & VOLUNTEER This Study & Volunteer program in La Ceiba combines a private study program and volunteer placement in the community for a minimum of 4 weeks. All opportunities will work in partnership with local people in a variety of community-based projects. This unique program offers exciting hands-on volunteering opportunities, meaningful cultural immersion, and an enriching language program. There are several different projects students can choose to work on. LANGUAGE & ECO TOURS This program was created for people that want to study Spanish and are looking for an opportunity to do a lot activities and enjoy the time while are study Spanish. The Ecological Spanish Program is available around the year, for 1 week, and for all levels in Spanish, we offer the opportunity our students stay in ecological Lodge in the National Park Pico Bonito, take Spanish lessons in the morning and some eco-activities during the program. CULTURAL MAYAN & BEACH The Mayan and Beach program is for 4 weeks and is available for all levels of Spanish. It allows visitors to experience a variety of Honduran culture and geography. * Begin in La Ceiba for 2 weeks of private lessons. * Travel by bus (included) to Copan Ruinas for 1 week of private lessons Just 12 kilometers west of the Guatemalan border lies the quiet town of Copán Ruinas, a pleasant, whitewashed and cobble-stoned village known for its Mayan ruins. * Travel by boat (included) to Utila Bay Island for 1 final week of private instructions (PADI diving lessons and certification available at additional cost.) :LODGING: HOMESTAY Lodging with a family is highly recommended. It is by far the best way for the student to completely immerse themselves in the Honduran culture and learn and practice Spanish. All of the homestays are exclusively with Honduran families. While they do not provide laundry service, many families will provide this service for a small amount of money. Inexpensive laundry services are also nearby the school's location (approximately $2 US per load). OTHER Hotels and guesthouses are also available for students at an additional cost.
