It was definitely worthwhile. I learned so much about Indian culture by getting to experience it firsthand. It was truly a remarkable experience. I would probably do it again just so that I could fully appreciate it rather than being distracted by my culture shock. - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review

My experience was very worthwhile and even indescribable in some aspects. I just enjoyed most of all learning about another culture, and most importantly being granted the opportunity to experience something outside of what I know and am used to. - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review

It was definitely worthwhile. I gained a new perspective of living and an appreciation for conditions and food in the United States. I feel that the trip did meet its goal of teaching us about conducting business in India (in several specific industries) and basic ideas that could be applied to other emerging markets. - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review

Yes, I wish the program would of been longer. It felt too short of a time. I learned alot about the different cultures and religions in India. I also learned about the different business practices. And I was able to visit alot of tourist attractions. - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review
The whole experience was well above my expectations. The welcoming service I received from the foreign businesses and facilities was impressive. I learned that India is the center for a lot of emerging business with so much potential. Walking down New Delhi may not seem impressive in comparison to the US, however there is much m... - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review

My study abroad experience was not only worthwhile, but it was definitely an eye-opening experience. All in all, I wanted to go to India. This program let me do that for a reasonable price and I saw the things I wanted to see (the Taj Mahal). BUT the trip could have been a lot less frustrating if we had gotten things done faster. It didn't have to be as long. We definitely could have had time to do one more activity per day and... - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review

About

ThisĀ  faculty-led program to India is part of a 4-credit course which is suitable for undergraduate and graduate students with an interest in learning about the culture, society, and commerce in India. It provides students a unique opportunity to study and understand the social, technological, economic, and political environment of India both in an academic setting and in the field. Students will be exposed to many different aspects of India, using an eclectic mix of lectures, written material, movies, meetings and interviews, and books. The course will help students learn historical and contemporary trends in India, develop an international perspective, understand the opportunities afforded by emerging economies like India, and become familiar with a geopolitically very important, culturally-diverse country. A major aspect of the course is that students will get to interact with Indian students, scholars, and leaders in diverse fields. The integrated course-work and travel component will give students a theoretical and experiential understanding of an Eastern country that is different from the United States in many ways, yet also similar in other ways. In light of the above, this program is relevant for students of various majors in Harpur, SOM, Watson and more.

The India-tour component will last for 12-14 days and consist of lectures, business and cultural site visits, meetings with local executives, and formal and informal time with local students. Students will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Indian culture to better understand the social, political, business, and economic environment.
