The University of Oviedo was founded towards the end of the 16th Century. The University started its courses in 1608, with less than a hundred students. Nearly four centuries later, it opens its doors to 40,000 students and over 1,000 faculty members in nine Faculties, two schools of Engineering, and eight University Schools. Students attend the Spanish Courses for Foreigners" program at the university.
