By A student (Wellesley College) - abroad from 07/19/2017 to 11/18/2017 with

I learned so much about Māori and New Zealand culture. I also learned about some ways in which the United States can improve, especially in education.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
The courses at the University of Auckland were not as intense as the courses at Wellesley since the classes were too large to be mostly discussion based. However, the content of the courses were just as rigorous as the courses at my home university. |

Auckland and New Zealand in general are very safe! Crime does occur but at much lower rates than most large cities. I always felt safe walking to my classes and back home on my own. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
I loved my time in Auckland! The classes at uni were so interesting, and I love how close the city is to beautiful places. I also got to travel all throughout New Zealand. which was the adventure of my life. I am so grateful that I got to participate in this program. |
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Auckland is a very expensive place to live. I paid $500 NZD (about $367 USD) every two weeks for university housing. Groceries were about $80 NZD (about $60 usd) every week. |
