YES! I learned just as much about people, meal prep, budgeting, sharing living spaces, making friends, travel, European culture, and Scottish culture as I did anything from my classes. I think thats why I like abroad: only part of the education comes from the classes, and so the whole time you are learning since the experience o... A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned a lot about Scottish culture, met many new friends and was able to expand my worldview. Katrina H - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I gained a lifelong network of friends I would have never otherwise met A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I learned how to be more independent, how to organize trips, and study more independently without the help of coursework. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
I think that I met a lot of great friends, local and international. I got to experience living independently in a new country, and explore the beauty of Scotland via bus, train, and bike. Continuing my academic path in a different cultural setting was worthwhile in looking at my studies with a different lens and optimism. Annalise J - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I felt like I grew a lot as an independent individual, and learned about diverse cultures. A student - Middlebury College View Entire Review

I learned a lot about myself and who I am. You have to dig deep when you are thrown into a completely foreign environment for an extended period of time. Noah L - Middlebury College View Entire Review
I had a great time at the University of Edinburgh! I learned a lot about the history and culture of Scotland, I made friends from around the world, and I got better at managing my own life (meal planning, grocery shopping, cooking, keeping up with dishes, etc). Going abroad was my first real opportunity for independence in the realest sense because of how far from home I was. It helped me learn how to take care of myself, how to put myself out there, and how to navigate different countries and cultures. Amelie R - Wellesley College View Entire Review
It was very worthwhile, I had a great time. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
It was very worthwhile. I got to live in a new city and also explore many other cities with new friends! I learned so much about myself through this experience. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
My time abroad taught me a newfound independence. I was thrown into the fire of living "on my own": I had to cook for myself, I had to navigate public transport by myself, I had to budget. It strengthened my negotiation skills and my co-habilitation skills; yes, it was worthwhile. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Yes, I learned to manage my life completely independent from my friends and family. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review
Not only did I have valuable academic experiences in Edinburgh, but the social and cultural experiences I had, the friends I made, and the connection to Scotland I was able to make were unforgettable. A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review

This experience truly was life changing for me. I had a rough sophomore year because of physical health issues, and within a week of being there, I was the happiest I have ever been. I became much more outgoing and social, and I had much more excitement. I also loved being in a city after spending my first two years in a small c... I gained a deeper understanding of how fortunate I was to have been given to opportunity to go abroad. I gained new experiences of a brand new continent, people, and culture, where I able to share with my entire family back home, who vicariously lived through me. As a first generation student, this is an experience I will keep f... A student - Wellesley College View Entire Review

About
Edinburgh offers a wide range of courses and you will be taught alongside students who enrolled on full degree courses in Edinburgh. We will always try to offer you a place on the courses you choose, but space may be limited in Honours level (3rd year) courses in popular subject areas. If you want to take Honours courses you need to show you have prior knowledge of the subject (a minimum of 3 or 4 University courses in the subject, which you passed with good grades). Meeting these requirements does not guarantee entry to a course, but we will try and offer you a suitable alternative if space is not available.

In addition to your completed application we also require a personal statement, an academic reference (from a faculty member who has taught you at your home institution), and an official transcript from your home institution.
