Very worthwhile, there are countries that seem more into environmentally friendly things, like using toilets with less water use, refilling bottles instead of buying new ones, there are many diverse people in every country, and currency is different as well as its value abroad. New viewpoints and worldly points of view. I have gained an appreciation for things that I never appreciated before. I love the idea of travel and want to impart on others the genuine nature of native New Zealanders. I hope to eventually move there one day. It was worthwhile. I went over there not knowing any one. Made friends from the University and had an amazing experience while in New Zealand. Ryley Stancel - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
It was my first time abroad, and New Zealand was a great place to begin my travel experience. The country was extremely friendly, and they spoke English which made it easy to adapt to the environment. Experiencing their way of living and learning about the Maori culture was amazing. About
This capstone course, Environment, Technology and Society is broad in scope. As such it can benefit in multiple ways from a first-hand visit to New Zealand. As New Zealand's founding history is linked to England, as is ours, we can learn from its historical roots. This history of the Maori people following European colonization of New Zealand is also of interest.
This course touches all three areas, environment, technology and society. While all these aspects will be experienced on the trip, perhaps environment, physical and biological, will be the lion's share of the course, followed by society (history) and technology such as geothermal energy.
