Classes are held at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge, one of the oldest and most academically respected universities in the world. Cambridge is the leading UK institution in biomedical sciences and has been home to over 70 Nobel Prize winners in the sciences and medicine.
Students learn the fundamental conservation principles and constitutive laws that govern heat, mass and momentum transport processes as they apply to typical biological problems. The class follows the same syllabus and format as at UT, including the How People Learn method of teaching and learning. Students develop problem-solving skills that enable adaptive expertise for addressing novel biomedical applications. Long weekends allow students to take advantage of the unique cultural and historical wealth of Cambridge and other locations in the UK and Europe.
