About
Layered with both history and all things avant-garde and ultramodern, Paris retains an enduring prestige through the ages. Hence, we are excited to announce a first Faculty-Led Program in Paris, France, summer 2017, as part of French Studies at WSU. The 6-week immersive study program will be centrally located within proximity of Paris’ most renowned cultural, artistic, and academic institutions.
The two courses offered by the faculty, in conjunction with guest lecturers from Parisian universities, will provide a rich introduction to historic and present-day France through classroom studies and diverse extracurricular activities. Offered in French, both courses will make use of the resources of the city with visits to museums, neighborhood tours, and other outings.
To enhance students’ academic experience, this program offers dynamic cultural activities that includes neighborhood walking tours, visits to world famous museums such as the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay and the Centre Pompidou, and opportunities to explore what is up and coming as well as to attend a ballet at the Opéra Garnier. Day trips and an overnight visit further complete the cultural calendar: activities planned for 2017 may include excursions to Chartres, Giverny, Reims, Normandy, or the fabled Loire Valley castles.
