About
Bond with your classmates and host family during your semester or year program as you learn not just regular academic subjects but also about South African history. South Africa is a place of great cultural diversity with 11 official languages. As you learn about the culture of your host family and their neighbors, you'll be exposed to the richness that this variety of cultures can bring. Your stay in South Africa will form memories and friendships that can last a lifetime.
Summer program students may still experience the wide cultural diversity of South Africa. As with all YFU programs, students will live with a host family. This unique program allows you to attend three different schools in the first two weeks! Spend the following weeks visiting sights in and around Pretoria, experiencing the African wilderness in the world famous Kruger National Park and enjoying the beautiful landscapes of Mpumalanga Province!
Volunteer Program: Spend a trimester in South Africa and volunteer at a children’s home near Cape Town, working with children who are orphans or have been taken away from their homes. Volunteers assist the children by helping with homework, playing sports, organizing fun activities, providing care and night duty, and walking children to school.
